Got a cervix? Get a pap! But, it’s not always as easy as that. Most queer women are subject to heteronormative assumptions by their health practitioners, leading to dangerous advice (eg. that queer women don’t need paps). This campaign is aimed to lesbian/bi/queer cis-gendered women in the fight for equity in their sexual health, and to health practitioners to create safe spaces for queer women.

Working closely with the Queer Women’s Health Initiative — a group led by Planned Parenthood Toronto — we developed the Check it Out campaign. Posters, tote bags, magnets, stickers and postcards we created were sent to community health organizations across the provide to create awareness of this very significant gap in queer women’s health care!
