Over the 2012-2013 year, The Public worked closely with the YWCA Canada on a civic engagement campaign for girls 13-29 across Canada. Together, we developed a civic engagement toolkit and social networking site addressing issues of violence against women, economic justice, environmental justice, sexual and reproductive rights, racism and Indigenous sovereignty. Launching a month before the Day of Big Change (a day of civic action one week before International Women’s Day), girls and young women were encouraged to engage in their own actions across Canada.
In addition to the branding, messaging and graphic design, The Public worked with Pam Kapoor to research and develop the toolkit, copy and writing, and developed an outreach communications strategy to reach this diverse audience. The site can be found online at thinkbig-startsmall.ca
