Repair Café at The Public

Repair Café Toronto is a grassroots, volunteer-run group that organizes events and workshops in Toronto for people to come together and repair household items. Repair cafés go beyond just getting things fixed; they’re also spaces for the exchange of ideas, curiosity about how things work, and the buzz of volunteer fixers and community members solving problems together.

We also held our first “repair café” at the studio this spring! Repair Café Toronto aims to build a more sustainable society and counter the throwaway mindset. Last month, the volunteer “fixers” from Repair Café and our neighbours at Bike Pirates set up for the day to help anyone who needed items repaired. It was a day of infusing new life into beloved objects that just needed a little love, and sharing skills and knowledge as a community. If you weren’t able to make it, or are in need of more repairs, don’t worry, we’ll be hosting another repair café in September!
