We're excited to be running our Facilitator Incubator program that will support women of colour from the Parkdale Leadership training to hone their facilitation skills and workshop ideas.

In this issue, we speak with Zviko Mhakayakora, OCAD graduate and former student of Sheila’s, who interned at the studio in 2016. Since then, whether as the Special Projects Coordinator for the new Design4 initiative at OCAD University, or coordinating Sheila’s wedding day, we’ve seen her continue to share her talents and wisdom in ever growing ways.

We wrapped up Gloria Swain’s exhibit, Black Women’s Lives Matter, with a closing reception and artist talk on violence against Black women. The conversations that came up touched upon the intersecting and particular ways Black women and trans folks struggle and survive the legacies of slavery and the ongoing colonial violence in the US and Canada.
